Girl shot with taser during school fight.

BRITTANY REINDL | FOX 35 News

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) – In an attempt to break up a fight, a school resource officer deployed a taser on a middle school student on Wednesday.

After the school day let out at Southwest Middle, two girls began throwing punches at each other in the middle of the bus loop, according to a report from a school resource officer.

The officer stepped in to stop the fight and ordered numerous times for the girls to end the brawl. He said he verbally warned the girls at least 3 times that he would have no choice but to use his taser if they did not stop.

When one girl pushed the other against the wall and continued to throw punches, the officer says he he used the taser on the aggressor in the fight, to prevent either of the girls from inflicting serious injuries on one another.

The girls’ parents were notified, in addition to the assistant principle of the school, who plans to press charges for “disruption of a school function.”

One girl was transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital to have the prongs of the taser removed. Both were arrested for “disrupting a school function and resisting an officer without violence.”
