FORT MYERS — Two teens were arrested Tuesday after a fight in the cafeteria at Cypress Lake High School where about 600 students were eating lunch.
A 16-year-old boy in Fort Myers, was charged with felony assault on an education employee and misdemeanor disturbing the peace. A 14-year-old girl was arrested for disruption of a school function, a misdemeanor.
According to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report:
An administrator, Tara Meagher, said during third lunch she noticed a disruption between a boy and girl and before she could reach them, saw the girl’s breasts exposed. Meagher said she tried to stop the fight by covering the girl with her body. The girl continued to struggle and other administrators were trying to hold the boy back.
Administrators and the school’s resource officer, a deputy, also saw what was occurring, but the two teens began swinging at each other before they could reach the pair. They continued trying to hit each other even as officials told them numerous times to stop.
While Meagher and the girl were on the ground, she felt someone grab her hair and pull so hard she was dragged across the floor while holding on to the student. The girl, who continued to struggle, was handcuffed.
As an administrator tried to pull the boy away from the girl, he saw the boy had Meagher’s hair and wouldn’t let go. The boy finally stopped pulling Meagher’s hair, but continued to try to get to the girl.
