NY. Another staff assaulted and another youth arrested at OCFS’ Tryon Facility

State police say a 17-year-old girl at the Tryon Girls Center who was charged with assault became enraged when she was told she would have to wait to make a telephone call because the telephone was in use.

Cheryl Lynn was charged at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with a felony count of second-degree assault and a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Troopers said Lynn used a pencil to stab a male staff member on the left side of his face and on his left wrist. Troopers subdued her and removed her from the area.

Lynn was taken to state police headquarters in Mayfield and charged with the assault and weapon possession counts. She was sent to the Fulton County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

Another Tryon inmate, Robin Sobles, 16, was arrested at 2 p.m. Thursday by state police and charged with second-degree harassment.

The arrest was at least the sixth since May 3 involving a Tryon inmate.
