Nevada. 4 students arrested in fight at Reno high school

Four students were arrested Thursday morning in connection with a gang-related fight at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports 3 of the students fought another student in a school restroom at about 8 a.m.

Washoe County School District officials say a district police officer had to call for backup help from other officers after the students ignored his request to stop fighting.

The students were taken into custody on suspicion of battery on each other and obstructing a police officer.

Officials say the fight was preceded by a gang-related incident Wednesday night near Damonte Ranch High.

In a related case, a Reno High School student is awaiting trial on charges stemming from a Sept. 9 gang-related knife attack of another student on campus.

  1. Clay Boggess says:

When a police officer has to call for additional backup it makes you wonder if having a second police officer on the campus is a good idea. Although I’m sure that money is probably an issue.
